Induction of alpha-Amylase in Wheat Grain Cultivars as an Indicator of Resistance to Pre-harvest Sprouting

چکیده
The influence of humidity and low temperature on the αamylase activity and isoenzyme composition of grains of different wheat varieties have been studied. The identified samples of varieties have significant difference in the level of enzyme induction under the impact of high humidity and low temperature. It is proposed to use this methodological approach for testing genotypes and wheat breeding lines for resistance to pre-harvest sprouting (PHS). Keywords—α-Amylase, isoenzymes, wheat, pre-harvest sprouting

Factors Affecting Pre-harvest Sprouting Resistance in Wheat (triticum Aestivum L
Pre-harvest sprouting (PHS) is one of the most important factors to affect the yield and quality of crops worldwide especially in wet harvest period. Breeding PHS-resistant cultivars has important implications to improve the wheat quality and production. The PHS is determined by environmental conditions, inner factors and interaction between these factors. We here reviewed recent advances influ...

The germplasm collection of 87 wheat-wheatgrass hybrids developed in Tsitisin Main Botanical Garden (Russia, Moscow) was evaluated for resistance to pre-harvest sprouting (PHS) by spike sprouting (SS) and germination index (GI) assays as well as for spike and grain features. The PHS resistance variation and haplotype polymorphism of the wheatgrass ThVp-1 and wheat TaVp-1B genes orthologues of V...
متن کاملThe wheat Phs-A1 pre-harvest sprouting resistance locus delays the rate of seed dormancy loss and maps 0.3 cM distal to the PM19 genes in UK germplasm
The precocious germination of cereal grains before harvest, also known as pre-harvest sprouting, is an important source of yield and quality loss in cereal production. Pre-harvest sprouting is a complex grain defect and is becoming an increasing challenge due to changing climate patterns. Resistance to sprouting is multi-genic, although a significant proportion of the sprouting variation in mod...
متن کاملThe Effect of Proteolytic Activity on the Technological Value of Wheat Flour from Pre-harvest Sprouted Grain
Investigations were conducted on the level of the overall proteolytic activity in flour fractions as well as fine and bruise bran, obtained from four varieties of wheat (‘Zyta’, ‘Pegassus’, ‘Sukces’, ‘Tonacja’), subjected to pre-harvest sprouting. Moreover, an analysis was conducted on the effect of pre-harvest sprouting on the functional properties of flour, determining the physical properties...
متن کاملGenetic, Hormonal, and Physiological Analysis of Late Maturity a-Amylase in Wheat1[W][OA]
Late maturity a-amylase (LMA) is a genetic defect that is commonly found in bread wheat (Triticum aestivum) cultivars and can result in commercially unacceptably high levels of a-amylase in harvest-ripe grain in the absence of rain or preharvest sprouting. This defect represents a serious problem for wheat farmers, and apart from the circumstantial evidence that gibberellins are somehow involve...
